On Election Day morning the Justice Department published the places where it said it intends to "monitor or observe" voting: 126 counties, cities and towns across all 50 states. Search for yours, and see whether DOJ watched it in 2022 or 2024. DOJ's release.

What a DOJ monitor can and cannot do
DOJ says monitors check compliance with federal voting rights laws. Reuters reports they cannot investigate on the spot or stop anyone from voting, and some state and local laws let election officials keep them outside polling places. If you have a problem voting, call the nonpartisan Election Protection hotline: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683).
About the numbers
The list is DOJ's stated plan, not a record of where monitors actually went or how many went to each place.
Population, race and ethnicity are Census Bureau county estimates for July 2024. Cities are shown with their whole county's figures, so Dearborn and Hamtramck carry Wayne County's numbers.
The 2024 presidential vote is by county, from a public compilation of official results; places with no county-level result show no vote, including Alaska, which reports by state house district. Black, Asian and Native American include people of more than one race, and Hispanic people can be of any race, so the shares can add to more than 100%.
"Language assistance" means the county or city must provide voting materials in that language under Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act (Census determinations, December 2021). Statewide Spanish coverage in California, Florida and Texas is not shown.
Earlier lists: DOJ's releases of Nov. 7, 2022 (64 jurisdictions) and Nov. 1, 2024 (86). Matches are by name.
Larger, denser counties vote more Democratic, and this list is weighted toward large counties, so its lean cannot by itself show why any place was chosen.
